There were 142 crimes against people in the last part of 2023, a slight uptick from the 117 reported from the quarter before. Crimes against people includes instances of human trafficking and kidnapping. There was one homicide reported last quarter, too.
WSDOT to close lanes on I-5 in SeaTac this weekend for SR 509 project
On Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2, crews will set 10 girders for the northern portion of the new South 216th Street bridge. Setting the girders is another milestone in construction of the bridge.
Police arrest suspect involved in local hit-and-run
On Feb. 25, police found a stolen RAM 1500 truck parked in SeaTac. Officers tried to contact the driver and the person drove off. The vehicle was then involved in a crash with a Jeep at South 128th Street and 22nd Avenue South. Both vehicles were significantly damaged, and the suspect fled on foot. The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead, and a small child was transported to a nearby hospital.
Salmon hatch, will continue growing at the community center

WSDOT announces upcoming I-5, SR 518 off-ramp closures
The northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to westbound State Route 518 will close in SeaTac overnight Saturday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, March 2 for bridge maintenance.

The event is on Feb. 27 from 10:15 – 11:45 a.m. at a Starbucks located at 17827 1st Ave. South. Local police officers will be available to answer questions from the public.

City Council, at last week’s meeting, approved the Final Docket of Comprehensive Plan and development regulation proposals for the City to explore over the next year as part of the Envision SeaTac 2044 Comprehensive Plan update process.
SeaTac adds electric Ford F150s to fleet
The trucks were ordered in August 2022 to replace six trucks across the maintenance fleet. Five of these vehicles will be used by parks maintenance. Funding was provided in the budget and already allocated to replace trucks that were either damaged or old.
