City Council adopts amendments to City’s sign code, effective April 6
Existing regulations needed rewriting to meet standards set by court cases on content neutrality. The updated sign code is intended to simplify the language and regulations about signs. Regulations are used for electronic signs, building mounted signs, freestanding and monument signs, etc.
City Council approves agreement to manage waterfowl populations in City
The city has populations of Canadian Geese at Angle Lake park and the SeaTac Community Center. Without the cooperation of the participating municipalities, the Canada Goose populations would rapidly increase, as would the damage they cause. Recreation areas are often closed due to water quality issues. Complaints of goose feces and human health and safety issues at public parks and green spaces grow in numbers as goose populations increase.
City Council approves contract with firm that will assist in developing civic campus idea
The over $300,000 contract for JLL, Inc. covers the following steps: Gathering community and City wants and needs for a civic campus that includes a city hall, assist in identifying and vetting potential site(s) and provide an overall project schedule that includes site acquisition, financing options, and a potential schedule ending with opening of the campus subject to revisions during the project.
SeaTac to pilot language access devices at most public counters in City-operated buildings
In our ongoing commitment to improving communication with diverse populations, we'll be introducing new tablet devices at some of our front counter spaces. These devices will enable staff and residents to easily access interpreters proficient in 240 languages. Video interpretation will also be available in the 25 most spoken languages, including American Sign Language.
Parks & Rec announces Spring events including a new dog-centric event
A new event will pop up June 22 called Barks & Rec at Grandview Off-Leash Dog Park, starting at 3 p.m. We are inviting the community to bring their dogs out for a good time. Activities, vendor booths, info from partner agencies like Seattle Humane along with food trucks will all be available.

SeaTac’s Police K9 helps Seattle Police track suspect
Deputy Ghrmai and Vuki arrived on scene after the vehicle had been stopped and proceeded to track one of the suspects that was outstanding. Deputy Ghrmai and Vuki tracked to and located a purse belonging to one of the victims and then located the suspect a short time later. The suspect surrendered to Seattle Police and Deputy Ghrmai without the use of K9 force.
