Salmon are an important part of the environment and culture of the Pacific Northwest. Recently, salmon populations have decreased due to habitat loss, changes in climate and oceanic conditions, and poor water quality.
600 people participated in SeaTac Signage Program survey–see the results
People were able to give feedback through a digital survey as well as large boards that were set up at several city events. The results will be taken to a committee before being presented to City Council, which will take public opinion into account before deciding on final designs.
SeaTac Police find new Community Engagement Officer
SeaTac has a new Community Engagement Officer, Will Bisesto, who previously worked in Maple Valley as a School Resource Officer.
SeaTac, Imagine Institute on track to open 17 new childcare businesses in the city
After extensive outreach efforts including phone calls, mass emails, social media campaigns reaching more than 200,000 users, attending several local community events, and meeting with several partner organizations located in SeaTac, the City of SeaTac and the Imagine Institute are in progress to open 17 new licensed childcare business in the City of SeaTac by Summer 2024.

City Council approves agreement with the Islamic Center of Seattle
City Council approved an agreement with the Islamic Center of Seattle allowing for a lot line adjustment between Riverton Heights Park and the adjacent mosque Tuesday night.
Police shared crime data from the third quarter of 2023
There were 117 crimes against people in the third quarter of the year, slightly down from the 143 from last year at the same time. These crimes include cases of human trafficking, homicide and kidnapping. Zero homicides were reported during the quarter.
Puget Sound Fire responds to blaze at new Polaris complex
No injuries were reported but some people are displaced. The fire broke out along the roof, believed to be related to the HVAC system. The blaze activated the sprinkler system, causing water damage to some units in the complex.
Puget Sound Fire’s holiday engine coming to SeaTac Dec. 17
Puget Sound Fire’s holiday engine will visit SeaTac neighborhoods Sunday, Dec. 17. The engine will be collecting food, gifts, and monetary donations that will go to the local food banks for distribution.
